If your morning doesn't officially begin until coffee happens, Central Ohio has an event with your name all over it.
The 11th annual Columbus Coffee Festival returns Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard. This year's festival brings together more than 40 coffee roasters and tea vendors from Ohio and surrounding states, along with local makers, bakers, food trucks and plenty of opportunities to discover a new favorite cup. For me, events like this are part of what makes living in Central Ohio fun. It's not necessarily the huge attractions that make you love where you live. Sometimes it's spending a fall Saturday wandering around with a coffee mug, discovering a local business you didn't know existed and wondering whether your fifth sample was really necessary.
Spoiler: probably not.
But we're doing it anyway.

Even if you aren't the person who can discuss roast profiles for 20 minutes, there's plenty happening beyond the caffeine.

This is the part of the festival that I think deserves more attention.
We're really good at saying "support local", but that doesn't always translate into knowing which local businesses are actually out there.
A festival like this puts dozens of them in one place.
You can meet the people roasting the beans.
Ask questions.
Try something different.
Buy a bag to take home.
And then, hopefully, remember that business the next time you're deciding where to spend your money.
Local businesses give Central Ohio communities their personality.
National chains certainly have their place, but the coffee shop where someone remembers your order? That's the stuff that starts making a place feel like home.
The Festival Is Also a Good Excuse to Explore Hilliard
The Franklin County Fairgrounds puts the festival right in Hilliard, which means you could easily make a day of it.
If you're coming from another part of Central Ohio, spend some time exploring Hilliard while you're there.
That's something I encourage people to do even when they aren't house hunting.
Go eat somewhere you've never eaten.
Walk through a different downtown.
Try a coffee shop.
Visit a park.
Central Ohio communities can be surprisingly different from one another, and you don't really understand those differences by looking at a map.
You understand them by getting out and experiencing them.

But dozens of experiences like this absolutely contribute to what it's like to live here.
That's something national real estate statistics can't measure very well.
When people ask me why I love Central Ohio, I can talk about jobs, home prices, commute times and economic development.
Those things matter.
But so do Saturday mornings.
Festivals.
Neighborhood coffee shops.
Local restaurants.
Farmers markets.
Parks.
Football games.
Jeep events.
And all the little traditions you start building once somewhere becomes home.
Real estate is where you live. Community is how you live there.
